Regional Communications Coordinator
Onyango is a creative entrepreneur born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya. He writes and performs poetry, is passionate about social justice, mental health and African masculinity. He tells stories for healing and connection. He joined IMHA for his love for digital advocacy. He loves music and is into somatic experiencing as a holistic approach to healing childhood trauma.
Onyango also operates a safe space for sexually abused boys and men. Out of the despair rooted from a personal experience, he recognises the shame and mental battles sexually abused men persevere in a culture that shuns them from expressing their pain healthily. In addition, he hosts and produces the Afro-Masculinity Podcast, in which he interrogates the complexities of African masculinities. He is equally passionate about involving African men in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights conversations.
Onyango's core strengths include absorbing the team's content ideas and getting them to make sense in social media terms. He is a keen listener and is great at helping others process the images in their heads.
